Pre First Draw Fun!

Before the 1st draw, we had a little fun.   Here are some pictures below about all the fun we had earlier today.

This is the picture with all the teams at the Opening Ceremonies.

This is Team Saskatchewan coming out on the ice with their Junior Stars behind them for Draw 1!

This is Team Canada coming out for Draw 1 in the photo above!

This is the photo of Team Manitoba coming out for Draw 1!

I got to meet some of the players and CCA people today.  Everyone was really nice.  This is going to be an amazing week!

Shout out to Newfoundland and Labrador!

I would like to make a shout out to the Newfoundland and Labrodor team skipped by Stacie Devereaux.  Their coach, Craig Withycombe  gave my friend Katelynn a broom that was just used by one of the members of the Newfoundland and Labrador team!  Thanks for the souvenir!

Sandra Schmirler Foundation Update

For the Sandra Schmirler Foundation so far, I have raised $695.75.  At my fundraiser at King's Town School we raised $205.75 and we raised $490 from generous donations by members at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club.  I know a lot of people are choosing to donate money online or on the telethon day.  I hope people from Cataraqui continuously donate for the Curling Club Challenge in support of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation!

Scotties Final Round Robin Predictions!

As I stated in one of my past posts, I think Heather Nedohin (CAN) will be on top of the standings after the Round Robin.  Kelly Scott (BC) will finish second followed by Rachel Homan (ONT) and Jennifer Jones (MAN). But once the four teams make the playoffs, anything can happen!

Saturday February 16 Preview

Saturday's Draws are:

Feb. 16	2:00 p.m.	1	SK vs NT	NL vs ON	MB vs PE	CA vs NB
Feb. 16	7:00 p.m.	2	PE vs NB	AB vs BC	NT vs NL	NS vs QC

I'm looking forward to the Canada vs. New Brunswick game in Draw 1 because both these teams are returning teams from last year and they are both very skilled.  I'm also looking forward to the Alberta vs. BC game in Draw 2 because this is the first full game that I will see Kristie Moore play.  Kristie knows the skill of Kelly Scott, so this game will be great.

Hot Shots Competition Begins

I went to the Hot Shots competition for a little while Friday afternoon.  There were 6 teams at the competition when I was there.  The teams were Team Rachel Homan (ON) and Team Kerry Galusha (NWT/YT) on Sheet A, Team Kelly Scott (BC) and Team Stacie Devereaux (NL) on Sheet B, Team Kristie Moore (AB) and Team Arsenault (NS) were on Sheet C.  Nice to see Colleen Jones back on the ice!

The 8 Curlers that made it to the playoffs are Heather Nedohin (CAN), Sharon Cormier (NWT/YT), Emma Miskew (ON), Rachel Homan (ON), Kaitlyn Lawes (MAN), Allison Ross (QB), Jill Officer (MAN) AND Sarah Wazney (BC).  Come check out the playoffs Saturday at noon, just after the opening ceremonies which start at 10:30 am.

Cathy O Visits Cataraqui Juniors

Six other juniors and I also had an opportunity to curl with Cathy Overton-Clapham (Sandra Schmirler Foundation Ambassador) as she came to the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club Friday afternoon.  She helped us work on our deliveries and gave us some tips.  We also had a mini draw to the button competition to see who would win 2 shirts that Cathy wore at the Worlds and the Canada Cup.

She was really nice to all of us and we appreciate her coming out!  We all had a great time!
